Ahi

Textarea
Ahi is a modern expression of Aotearoa’s food story, brought to life by chef Ben Bayly and a close-knit team who consistently deliver some of Auckland’s most thoughtful dining. Built on the idea of connection to land and people, the restaurant celebrates New Zealand produce in a way that feels both grounded and elevated, earning multiple accolades including Restaurant of the Year and a continued three-hat status. Much of the menu draws directly from local growers and the Ahi Kitchen Garden with seasonal ingredients shaping dishes that highlight freshness, sustainability and craft. Ben’s approach is collaborative and deeply rooted in community, working alongside producers, farmers and his team to create food that reflects contemporary Kiwi identity. Dishes are bold but considered. The Ahi backyard BBQ is a standout, combining Greenstone Creek scotch with Marmite brown butter, crispy agria potatoes, creamed leeks, baby gem and a nostalgic Kiwi onion dip. To finish, the banana Louise cake brings together banana parfait, banana skin jam, macadamia, coffee, rum and meringue for a rich yet playful finale. The experience is supported by a carefully curated list of New Zealand wines, spirits and craft beers, designed to complement the menu rather than compete with it. At its core, Ahi delivers refined dining that still feels unmistakably Kiwi.
