Graze

Textarea
Max Gordy and Stina Persen are a standout hospitality duo bringing real energy to suburban Wellington with Graze, a neighbourhood spot that works just as well for a quick glass of wine and a few snacks as it does for a full night out. Everything is designed for sharing, much of it casual and hands on, with a playful, ever-changing seasonal menu that keeps things interesting and never feels static. Max draws on his US influences, with a confident use of chilli (especially jalapeño), pickles and preserves, alongside dishes that nod to comfort food staples like grits, pretzels and cornbread. House favourites include pretzels with beer cheese and kimchi jam, a combination that says a lot about the kitchen’s bold, flavour-first approach. The chilli con paua tortilla tarts are rich with a satisfying, unctuous texture and bright hits of pickled onion and herbed yoghurt. Another signature is the butterfish crudo with pumpkin and chilli, both playful and precise, where delicate fish, chilli oil and pickled onion come together in a dish that’s as visually fun as it is delicious. With a thoughtful selection of natural wines and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, Graze delivers food that’s full of personality without ever feeling overworked.
