Tokki
Textarea
Tokki chef and owner Jason Kim has quietly been gathering culinary momentum and a loyal following at his modern Korean restaurant in Milford where every bite packs a punch and the experience is like no other Korean cuisine in Auckland. Standouts from our first visit are still on a menu that has evolved into a streamlined rollout of Jason’s outstanding re-interpretation of his own food memories mixed with his astute recognition of what we want to eat right now. Raw fish bathed in a Korean mustard sends signals that the fish may be lost in the tangy sauce, but it’s perfectly balanced as is the astounding flavour and texture of the crispy eggplant drenched in a deep, dark soya and chilli glaze. The flat noodles have been a standout since day one, smothered in pork and chilli sauce and the prawn mousse-stuffed crispy chicken wing is a thing of great beauty. Grab a seat at the bar and do the Tokki house menu along with pairing suggestions from a very knowledgeable team. Check website for opening hours MAINS: A la carte $9-$55, tasting menu $85 per person
