If food and drink forms an integral part of your experience when discovering a region then having a taste of the food of Marcus Berndt at Terra is a must-do when visiting Paihia in the Bay of Islands. Although a fine-dining approach showcases the skills of this clever chef, the menu and experience remain Kiwi-casual and approachable. Co-owner Sarah Connor drives a team that is knowledgeable and passionate about supporting Northland food-and-drink producers. A firm favourite is the cured King Salmon tart showcasing flavours of green peas, wasabi and paprika. Don’t miss dessert – always a winner, especially our honey brûlée, with rhubarb and rosehip sorbet and macadamia crumble.
