Chef-owner Lesley Chandra, who took over this tasteful upstairs venue in 2021, conjures up creative magic that ticks all the boxes against a backdrop view of the cityscape. Using the best seasonal ingredients he can lay his hands on, Lesley delivers a sensitive take on foods connected to his Fijian roots, with an unapologetic Indian nuance. Alongside an expertly curated wine list – presided over by sommelier Joe Costello, one the city’s most informed wine palates – is a menu where you’ll discover many new favourites. One of ours is bluefin tuna with coconut and mandarin but ‘Mum’s fish curry’ with prawns and cassava is a family heirloom that will have you salivating. Lesley’s treatment of the Fiordland wapiti with its egg yolk and chimichurri is inspired while his wagyu palusami with black garlic and taro will knock your socks off.
