This is a restaurant that surely needs no introduction as hospitality stalwarts co-owner Steve Logan and chef-co-owner Shaun Clouston take the icon that is Logan Brown into the future. Dining in one of the most classically elegant rooms in town – within a grand interior that boasts beautiful high ceilings, archways, table and booth seating and a sophisticated bar – must by now qualify as a rite of passage for every food lover that sets foot in the capital. With formidable wine knowledge and a phenomenal list to boot, recommended wine matches invariably prove to be winners. One our visit, an off-dry Vouvray was the pick of the day, the chenin blanc teaming impressively with pāua ravioli with coriander basil and a lime beurre blanc and chargrilled octopus was paired with pork jowl, kohlrabi and a tamarind chimichurri. If it’s on, don’t go past the clever goat’s cheese fondue with a side of smoky brie and a blue-cheese mousse. Curd heaven. Check website for opening hours MAINS: 3 courses $95 per person
