IN BRIEF Ethical, exquisite eating guaranteed

Textarea
This plant-based eatery has been around for almost a decade so the team must be doing something very right. Chef-owner Asher Boote makes sure of that, often making an appearance at the bar or on the floor as the night unfolds. Sit at the bar if you want to watch the action, or at a table as staff offer unobtrusive service where nothing is too much trouble. Known for his prowess in taking humble ingredients and elevating them to superstar status, Asher also takes an ethical approach to his role as restaurateur which made him a Champion for Change in the Cuisine Good Food Awards 2022. His bread, which uses his mum’s treasured sourdough starter, is revered countrywide and, on the night we dined, we ate a deliciously original raw pumpkin salad, the finely diced components mixed with toasted seeds and dressing of pumpkin seed and citrus atop a deeply delicious pumpkin-seed mole. For colder evenings, a sublime onion and lime soup using heirloom onions slow-cooked and puréed with cream with zesty lime added at the end was a warm bowl of freshness (as contradictory as that sounds).
