There’s smart pan-Asian style dining and then there’s Hello Beasty. Stuart and Emma Rogan are doing an amazing job keeping diners coming back for their outstanding service, user-friendly drinks list and a menu packed with taste and texture. The quality and consistency are benchmarks for this shared-plate style of dining: portions are generous, delivery times impeccable and the pricing is right. That’s why this is the restaurant of choice for so many Aucklanders young and older, food-wise and curious. They are beguiled by dishes such as the wagyu shiitake and black pepper pot stickers, the finger-licking katsu sando crumbed chicken thighs with shredded white cabbage, and the Korean fried cauliflower with spicy gochujang glaze. Just as memorable are more substantial plates such as the confit duck leg with its playful bindaetteok mung bean pancake. Leave room for the kkwabaegi twisted doughnuts in miso caramel for dessert.
