San Ray

The space formerly home to Orphan’s Kitchen has been given new life by the owners of Cazador, who have created San Ray, a relaxed all-day bistro inspired by the flavours of Southern California and Mexico. Open seven days for breakfast, lunch, coffee and cocktails, with dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, it’s a place to settle in and stay awhile. The menu brings bistro classics to the grill, with dishes cooked over coals and wood fire. Highlights include oysters with lime granita, spicy tortilla soup, tajin fries, vegetable-forward plates and the unmissable woodfired chicken. Expect caesar salads and beef steaks alongside mimosas, micheladas and plenty of Mexican spice. The airy dining room opens onto a covered patio garden, with a private room for groups of up to 18. Whether stopping for morning coffee, lingering over lunch or settling in for a multi-course dinner, San Ray is an easygoing spot for good food, drinks and time with friends.
