IN BRIEF A mighty menu from a modest backstreet bar

The debut restaurant from Tom Adam and Juno Miers is a vibrant tribute to London’s Margot Henderson that has quickly become a must-visit for Wellington’s food aficionados. Hidden in a modest backstreet, the ever-evolving menu is a testament to creativity and seasonal produce, ensuring fresh surprises with every visit. Pork, lardo and pistachio terrine on very good bread is a terrific way to start and the raw fish offering of trevally topped with crème fraîche, tomatillo, cumin and shishito chili remains a favourite. The food showcases bold yet uncomplicated flavours that resonate deeply (case in point the spectacular lamb chops with a pickled onion salad, yoghurt and sumac). For dessert, it’s hard to bypass the sheep’s milk panna cotta with quince and a final tipple of Amaro Montenegro and some Brie De Moutere cheese with grape jelly and crackers to finish. Complementing the food is a fantastic drinks list, highlighting standout sherries and vermouths. This is not just a meal; it's a flavour adventure waiting to unfold.
