Amisfield in Lake Hayes stands proudly as a beacon of New Zealand's culinary landscape, widely celebrated as one of the country's finest dining establishments. This experiential fine-dining restaurant offers a world-class, multi-course menu that is unparalleled in Aotearoa and complemented by the estate’s award-winning organic single-vineyard wines, alongside a curated selection of some of the finest wines from around the globe. While the menu evolves frequently to reflect the seasons, one constant remains: an exquisite representation of New Zealand's vibrant food culture, flawlessly executed with each visit and continuing to prove that the best is always getting better. Executive chef Vaughan Mabee, head chef Sun Peng and their team are captivating guests with a theatrical approach and executing a daring dance of innovation that makes an immense contribution to placing Kiwi cuisine on the global culinary stage. In early 2019, we asked Vaughan if he could see Amisfield on the prestigious World’s 50 Best Restaurants list and he replied: “You need to do something magical to be on that list. I’m just going to keep doing what I do.” It was with this determination and steely focus that Vaughan led the Amisfield team to a place at the pinnacle of New Zealand dining at the 2019 Cuisine Good Food Awards, as one of only five restaurants to be awarded a coveted 3-hat rating. They went on to hold the title of American Express Restaurant of the Year from 2021-2023. In June 2025, Amisfield became the first New Zealand restaurant to place in the top 100 of the World's 50 Best Restaurants at number 99. We recognise Amisfield again with three hats and our American Express Restaurant of the Year award in 2025.
