Here’s a star in ascendency. From destination status in 2023, this enormously popular pan-Asian eatery has moved up a notch and continues to impress those who have ventured to the city fringe to experience the fabulous food of chef Johnon MacDonald and co-owner Kat Strand. The menu oozes passion mixed with sophistication and playfulness served up with deceptive simplicity. This guy knows the intricacies of eastern combinations as well as the joy and interest ferments, pickles and smoking can add to the plate. Try the yellow curry beef doughnut with Kewpie mayo or the tea-smoked duck with sweet-and-sour hoisin. Another fave is the satay spinach dumplings in their caramelised black vinegar while top of our vegetarian list is the tempura cauliflower with strange flavour sauce and chilli oil.
