Originally from West Auckland, Matt Lambert’s skill and creativity gained him a coveted Michelin star at his restaurant The Musket Room in New York City, so it was a big deal when he returned to New Zealand in 2020. At the Lodge Bar in Auckland, Matt is serving well-conceived dishes that range from spectacular snacks through to an impressive offering of dry-aged steaks, accompanied by a drinks list that includes original cocktails and some seriously good wines. Exquisite oysters are usually on offer elevated by Matt's outstandingly different dressings and vinaigrettes. Beef, pork, fish and pasta are all on the menu here not only showcasing the unique flavours of Aotearoa but also demonstrating art on a plate that tastes as sublime as it looks.
